>> What is Capoeira?

The dynamic Brazilian art form and self defence system that blends elements of dance, gymnastics and martial arts, music and power. Capoeira is within anyone's reach no matter what your fitness level. Experience the benefits while you are having fun and making new friends.

Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art that grew out of the African slaves and their quest for freedom in the 1600's. It looks like a dance, can be a fight, but always a celebration of freedom and life.

Group Capoeira Brasil can be found in many countries around the world. It was founded by Mestres Boneco, Sabiar and Paulão in January 1989. Group Capoeira Brasil is currently one of Brazil's largest and best recognised schools.

In 1992 André Cerutti (also known by his capoeira name as Mestre Peixe) started Group Capoeira Brasil in Australia. He has built a large school of committed capoeira students.
